The U-Boat Behind Das Boot
U-96 became internationally known through Lothar-Günther Buchheim’s novel Das Boot and its celebrated film adaptation, both based on his experience aboard the submarine as a war correspondent in 1941.
This large-scale building model gives military and naval collectors the opportunity to examine U-96 beyond its famous exterior, revealing the confined compartments and mechanical systems beneath the hull.
